Director – Business Technology

After graduating from Victoria University with a degree in Architecture in 1995, Matthew joined Caduceus as a CAD support technician, resolving issues, training clients and creating customisations for AutoCAD. He quickly expanded his skills by supporting PCs, setting up networks, and introducing clients to email and the internet.

Five years later and a move to Auckland saw Matthew providing IT for a central north island forestry logistics company and before long assisting with the development of software for clients in the logistics, retail, and healthcare sectors. In 2004, he returned to Wellington and rejoined Caduceus as director and shareholder, bringing expertise in virtualisation, databases, networking, security, and systems integration.

Today, Matthew leads the IT technology arm of Caduceus, working closely with clients to shape their IT vision and deliver resilient, business-focused solutions. He’s passionate about embedding security, reliability, and robustness into every conversation and project. Matthew puts clients at the centre of every solution, taking time to understand their goals and designing technology strategies that deliver real results.

As a senior engineer within our team, Matthew remains hands-on, supporting the team and resolving complex issues. Frequently found with a coffee in hand, he is as comfortable discussing IT strategy at board level as he is on the service desk, tackling clients’ technical challenges.

Away from the office, Matthew enjoys the great outdoors. He is equally at home on the water (sailing and fishing) as he is hiking in Aotearoa’s great outdoors.
